Julianne Hough DEFENDS bizarre exorcism-like ‘energetic treatment’ after widespread ridicule

Julianne Hough defended her bizarre ‘energetic treatment’ years after a video of it went viral.

The 36-year-old Dancing with the Stars alum shared that she believes the practice of energy healing has gained wider acceptance since the 2020 clip faced criticism and was likened to an ‘exorcism.’

‘I will say, I’ve had a few supernatural experiences and had a lot pf people go “Oh, she’s lost the plot,”‘ the actress began on Monday’s Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe.

‘I did this energy work session and it went viral and people were like, “She’s got demons and an exorcist coming out of her butthole,… and that was almost five years ago.

‘Now it’s so much more accessible and people understand what’s happening and that energy is everything.’

In January 2020, Julianne stunned fans when a video of her experiencing ‘energy work’ with Gwyneth Paltrow-endorsed body healer John Amaral went viral on social media.

Amaral had Hough lie face down on a massage table so he could demonstrate how waves of stored emotion can be released through movement — and the results were jaw-dropping.

In the video, Amaral floats his hands over Hough, and her body starts to move in a wave pattern. The dancer can be seen jutting her backside into the air and arching her back.

‘This is spontaneous,’ the chiropractor insists. ‘It’s not a placebo effect. It’s reproducible.’

Amaral explains that Hough’s body is redirecting and dissipating stored energy — ‘freeing up the system to be more adaptable.’

Just when viewers think it can’t get any weirder, he mimes pulling something out of the dancer’s backside, and she starts screaming.

‘Expression of the emotion may happen when the system moves,’ he explains while Hough’s body twitches and ripples on the table in front of him.

And just like that, the demonstration is over, and a smiling Hough pops up to discuss her experience with the audience, explaining that it was ‘stored emotion’ that came out of her.

‘I feel so much more liberated on the inside that I can speak my truth clearly and stand in my power and not feel overtaken by … emotion, my mind, and I feel free inside myself to just be,’ she says in the clip.

Jackie Schimmel Haas, the host of the ‘B**h Bible’ podcast, shared the bizarre footage on Instagram, writing: ‘Gonna tell my kids this is the Exorcist.’

Unsurprisingly, the footage left more than a few people feeling lost for words, with Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder commenting: ‘What in the actual…’

‘What the literally f*ck is going on,’ asked Southern Charm star Naomie Olindo.

‘Is he pulling the demonic spirit out of her booty??? So many questions. Calling a priest,’ joked comedian Heather McMahan.

Amaral may look familiar to fans of Gwyneth’s Goop, as he is featured on the lifestyle guru’s new Netflix show, The Goop Lab.

On Monday’s podcast,  Julianne commended Paltrow for having the courage to face criticism for her so-called ‘woo-woo’ practices.

‘I am so grateful for her,’ the Footloose alum shared.

‘When you’re a pioneer in something and you have the courage and the guts to put it out there, you will absolutely get backlash, completely,’ she added. ‘I give her props.’
